The RSGB IOTA 2026 Contest took place during the weekend 25 – 26 July, 2026. IOTA stands for Islands on the Air. SARTS members participated in the category DX expedition, multi-operator, low power, under the call sign 9V1IO. Many thanks to Haoyuan, 9V1HY, for the organization.

Propagation was good, noise level acceptable. We operated on 40, 20 and 15 m in mixed mode (SSB & CW). 175 QSO in total, highest qso rate at 8 pm, 12 mn and 7 am.
Mar 5, 2022 at 23:15 SGT, BEAR-4 was launched from Singapore.
It carried an APRS beacon on 144.390 MHz, and also sent an SSTV image (ROBOT36 format) on 145.500 MHz in 5 min intervals.

Unfortunately, the last packet received was at 23:48, before the connection was lost.
I’m so glad we made JOTA SG 2019 a dream come true. We managed to bring the radio aspect back into Scouts SG. The last one was back in 2001, I guess? We were only given 3 hours, and we made the best out of it.
The event was ran by a group of super enthusiast hams, each to their own merits! Even the XYLs (wives) lend a hand to make this a wonderful one.
We made sure the scouts get full engagement and exposure during the activities, as you can see they are the ones holding the radio most of the time.
Nevertheless, well done to the team!

On July 27 and 28 a team of Singapore hams took the ferry to Pulau Ubin and used the IOTA contest as an opportunity to have a field day.
From July 28th to 29th SARTS members activated Pulau Ubin, IOTA AS-019.
